The Resource Specialist Teacher supports the Charter School in implementing Ararat Charter School’s vision and mission; building the capacity of the faculty and staff in teaching an integrated, project-based, interdisciplinary curriculum. This person assists in the developing, implementing, evaluating and refining of ACS’s instructional program within the Special Education program and connected to the general education program. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Resource Specialist will support instruction in reading, math, and written language for K-5 students; provide instruction to individual and small groups of students based on IEP goals; administer and score academic testing; and write individualized education plans. In addition, RSP will conduct IEP meetings. Provide direct instructional support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Provide instruction to students with special needs and identified learning disabilities in a resource specialist program.
- Provide instruction to individual and small groups of students, reinforcing language and reading concepts and academic needs as specified in the IEP.
- Conduct IEP meetings and case manage all students with an IEP.
- Communicate and coordinate special needs evaluation and testing with speech teacher, psychologist, and other service providers.
- Communicate with parents regarding individual student progress and conduct
- Perform Instructional/Behavioral/Operational responsibilities related to students with disabilities.
- Administer and score individual and group tests and standardized achievement tests.
- Collaborate with the home room teacher, other service providers, and paraprofessionals on the use of instructional stretegeis related to students with disabilities.
- Support the school in the District Validation Review process.
- Develop, write, and implement IEP goals and objectives.
- Prepare and maintain accurate service records and record progress toward IEP goals.
- Current understanding of all LAUSD, state, and federal mandates as they relate to protections for students who receive special education services.
- Monitor student progress and analyze student achievement data to modify and guide instruction
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Resource Specialist program.
