JOB DESCRIPTION
The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part- time faculty positions for the 2021 spring semester to teach history courses with emphasis on the following:
US HISTORY WORLD HISTORY
AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY
Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
Instructor may be offered dual enrollment teaching positions in a local high school. The instructional materials, course outline of record, and student learning outcomes in dual enrollment courses are the same as those on the college campus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in history; OR
Bachelor's degree in history AND Master's in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women's studies, social sciences; or ethnic studies OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated above, must explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code
87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous college-level teaching experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2021 spring semester, beginning February 13, 2021. A teaching demonstration will be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcript(s). Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit Certificate of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.
SALARY
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $89.92 - $108.33 (lecture), $68.15 - $82.09 (lab) per hour depending on education and experience.
