Job Summary
The candidate should have extensive knowledge about effective reading processes, how to support English Learners, and a system to track on-going progress. Preference is for a bilingual candidate to teach students who need additional support in TK-5 Dual Language and English classrooms using a small group, co-teaching model. Collaboration with classroom teachers, Student Study Team (SST), and Principal is key in identifying students needing intervention as well as monitoring progress. Proficiency in using technology to track and monitor data results, record running records, and establish reading goals for each student. Examples of Duties: • Teach reading strategies to small groups of students (Grades TK-5) that accelerate their progress. • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to determine reading needs and provide customized instruction for TK-5 students. • Work with the Student Study Team (SST) to provide pre- and post-data results from intervention sessions. • Plan instruction and schedule student intervention groups for 6- or 8-week sessions. • Co-create reading goals with the students and monitor progress. • Report weekly to the Principal to update results of intervention sessions. • Be open to coaching and feedback on effective instruction.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have a California multiple subjects teaching credential with full-time teaching experience. Applicant's credential must be attached to their application and registered with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing by the close of the posting. Experience teaching in a dual-language program and a Bilingual Authorization in Spanish are preferred. Applicants must have a valid California driver’s license and be prepared to conduct, participate in, and travel to sites, professional development sessions, workshops, and meetings.
