Job Summary
Prepare, implement, and evaluate an annual treatment plan for each student/client based on individually assessed needs. Provide specialized physical therapy services through individual and/or group sessions designed to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of the students/clients. Provide consultative support as a physical therapist expert to stakeholders. Design and construct adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and upper extremity orthotic devices. Conduct PT assessments and make recommendations to the IEP teams for school placements. Participate in the development of service plans for clients being served in community based settings. Administer the physical therapy program as needed in terms of budget recommendations, space and equipment recommendations, physical therapy program development and evaluation, and supervision/direction of any support staff or others (e.g., student interns) assigned to the physical therapy program. Work confidentially with discretion. Participate in IEP meetings of students for school based placements, and provide professional recommendations for educationally relevant goals, services, and accommodations to the IEP Team to consider. Consult, observe, and train staff on the environmental needs and supports necessary for students/clients to safely access their environment. Continue professional growth through educational meetings, visiting related facilities, reading professional literature, exchange ideas among staff, and attend a variety of meetings, workshops, and conferences as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Physical Therapy license issued by the State of California (current certificate from the Physical Therapy Board of California).
- Bachelors and/or Masters in Physical Therapy.
- More than one year of professional PT experience.
- Experience in pediatrics and school based services and/or experience with home based services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience using SEIS or Welligent is a plus.
- Reliable transportation.
Credential Requirements
- Physical Therapy licence issued by the State of California (current certificate from the Physical Therapy Board of California)
