6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with 1-hour lunch
Requirements: Any combination of education, training, and experience to fulfill the requirements of the position, which would typically be acquired through completion of a high school education; Three (3) years of experience as a school bus driver is desirable. Knowledge of: Modern office procedures and practices, including filing systems, reception and telephone techniques and letter and reporting writing techniques;Computer application software that includes word processing, database and spreadsheets, and personal communication data devices; Standard arithmetic and basic business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; Safe driving practices and procedures; California motor Vehicle Code and requirements pertaining to pupil transportation; Operation of school buses; Budget and financial record keeping. Skills and Abilities: Work both independently and function effectively within a team setting; Handle information in a discreet and confidential manner; Exercise reasonable judgment in unusual circumstances; Plan, formulate and execute clerical procedures and directives in accordance with assigned duties and office policies; Utilize and apply the technology of word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications; Perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy; Communicate in English and Spanish, clearly and concisely, both orally in writing; while maintaining patience and tact; Work with linguistically and culturally diverse groups; Be organized and work under pressure to meet required schedules and timelines; Read and interpret state law related to transportation, school policies/procedures and technical materials; Maintain files and statistical records accurately; Use an alpha/numeric keyboard and standard office equipment effectively with a reasonable rate of speed and accuracy to successfully complete assignments; Safely and efficiently operate school buses; Maintain proper discipline among students on a school bus; Effectively schedule and utilize personnel and equipment in the operation of the district transportation fleet. Licenses and Certificates: A valid California Class II Driver’s License with a safe driving record; A school bus driver’s certificate, issued by the California Highway Patrol; A medical certificate; A First Aide certificate; A CPR certificate within the first six (6) months of employment
Salary: Range 16/$19.46- $20.99 per hour – no license; Range 18/$20.49-$22.03 per hour – license
