Job Summary
California Private Teachers is seeking a Private Teacher for a family living in Carmel, California. The Private Teacher will be responsible for the academics and homeschooling of a single Kindergarten student for the 2020/2021 school year. The Private Teacher must employ strategies to create educational opportunities that encourage self-expression, student-led exploration, logical thinking, and problem-solving. The teacher must have elementary teaching experience and live locally to provide in-person instruction. This position has a flexible start date in August. The teacher will be employed full-time and be expected to teach a minimum of 186 days over the course of the school year. A homeschooling curriculum will be established with the help of an educational consultant. The family prefers a live-in teacher, but are flexible given the ideal candidate.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Private Teacher will be responsible for lesson planning, supplementing the curriculum, providing enrichment opportunities, and interventions when applicable. The family hopes to find an engaging, enthusiastic, and passionate educator who strives to develop the child’s intellectual, artistic, and pragmatic skills in an integrated and progressive manner. The Private Teacher must possess the necessary knowledge and pedagogy to teach kindergarten effectively while also creating a learning experience that is tailored to the child’s unique learning styles and academic needs. The teacher must be able to foster a love of learning and help facilitate the exploration of the child’s interests through project-based learning. The teacher will also be expected to support the child's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development in a way that is age appropriate and conducive to their success as a young student. The Private Teacher must abide by the public health guidelines and mandates while also maintaining social distancing during the pandemic while working in the family household.
Credential Requirements:
A valid California Multiple Subject teaching credential is required. Please indicate the expected issuance date of your credential if it has not yet posted with the credentialing commission. Applicants who hold an out-of-state teaching credential/certificate will be considered. Attach a copy of your out-of-state credential to your application.- Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
- Applicants must have experience in early childhood or primary education.
- Applicants must have completed an accredited Education program with a degree conferred in Educational Studies.
- Applicants must be willing to travel with the family as requested.
- Applicants must have experience using project-based and place-based learning opportunities.
- Applicants must currently reside or be willing to relocate to the Carmel area.
- Applicants with a Graduate degree desired but not required.
