BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, clean and maintain an assigned school facility in a clean, orderly, and secure manner REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets. Dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork. Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels. Clean restroom, locker room, and shower. Wash windows and wall, polish metal work and clean chalkboards. Move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing multipurpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings. Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school buildings. Perform special maintenance projects as assigned. Perform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness. Assist in maintaining school security and fire safety as assigned; assist in maintaining fire extinguishers. Communicate with students, faculty, and the public; provide directions or other information; establish communication according to established guidelines. Perform minor maintenance work as assigned.
