Library Aide Substitute
Under general supervision of the school librarian, perform varied clerical and technical library duties in a school library, ensuring student and staff access to materials, reference and search resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist teachers with library resources. Assist students with use of the library, location of materials, use of resource guides, computer aided catalogs and the Dewey Decimal System.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior library and clerical experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND OR ABILITIES REQUIRED:
SKILLS to apply computer or learn computer functions; follow written and oral instructions.
KNOWLEDGE of office and library procedures and practices, library filing systems; receptionist and telephone techniques; letter and report writing; proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation; office machines and computer use.
ABILITIES to sit for prolonged periods of time; understand and carry out oral and written instruction. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
If required to operate a vehicle during employment, must possess a valid California Driver’s License and evidence of insurability, TB test clearance, Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.

Please note that all EDCOE Classified Substitute pool positions are on call, as needed and substitutes are at will employees. This pool or list is used to temporarily fill classified vacancies, or provide additional support to programs. Due to Merit System rules and regulations, the Classified Sub Pool is not used to fill permanent EDCOE positions. Job Purpose Statement: Assist teachers with library resources. Assist students with use of the library, location of materials, use of resource guides, computer aided catalogs and the Dewey Decimal System. The following districts participate in the EDCOE Classified Substitute Pool: • Black Oak Mine Unified School District • Buckeye Union School District • Camino Union School District • El Dorado County Office of Education • El Dorado Union High School District • Gold Oak Union School District • Latrobe School District • Mother Lode Union School District • Pioneer Union School District • Placerville Union School District • Pollock Pines School District • Rescue Union School District • Silver Fork School District
