1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

1.1 Develops and presents lessons to students; evaluates students progress; maintains proper classroom control and learning environment; assists in curriculum development; supports and supervises co-curricular activities.

2. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Develops and presents lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with the district course of study.
2.2 Develops and presents lessons whose performance objectives are understoodby the students and are supportive of district goals.
2.3 Evaluates student progress bassed primarily on achievement of performance objectives.
2.4 Uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials which are appropriate to the course and to the students.
2.5 Maintains proper control and preserves a suitable learning environment.
2.6 Demonstrates and promotes punctuality.
2.7 Maintains current records of student attendance and progress that can be easily understood and readily interpreted by others.
2.8 Participates with fellow staff members in the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction and other appropriate departmental activities.
2.9 Keeps up to date in subject area and continually works for the improvement of instructional techniques.
2.10 Makes periodic evaluation of the subject(s) taught.
2.11 Adheres to approved district course of study, policies and procedures.
2.12 Attends and participates in departmental school and district meetings.
2.13 Supervises the proper use of equipment and facilities with the students' safety in mind.

3. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES

3.1 Treats students with courtesy and respect.
3.2 Demonstrates an awareness of student's social, psychological, emotional academic needs.
3.3 Acknowledges professional responsiblity to support and supervise co-curricular activities.
3.4 Shares ideas, techniques and materials as appropriate with othe staff members.
3.5 Demonstrates willingness to offer and receive suggestions.
3.6 Cooperates in the use and care of all equipment and materials.
3.7 Demonstrates as awareness of the total school and district educational programs.
3.8 Attends conferences and reads professional literature.
3.9 Maintains current knowledge of available instructional materials.
3.10 Works cooperatively with district subject area coordinators in carriying out district programs.
3.11 Keeps informed of social, political and economic developments in the school district community.
3.12 Demonstrates an awareness of the socio-economic and ethnic makeup of the community.
3.13 Has knowledge of the functions of the various community agencies including referral services.
3.14 Actively participates in school/community related organizations.
3.15 Promotes community responsibility among students.
3.16 Helps to inform the community fo the services and educational opportunities available through the school.
3.17 Recognizes his or her functions as being in loco parentis and acts in accordance with state law and district and school regulations.

4. SUPERVISION EXERCISED OR RECEIVED

4.1 Under general supervision of Principal.
4.2 Supervisory responsibility over classified personnel assigned to his or her classes.

5. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

5.1 Appropriate secondary teaching credential.
5.2 Minimum college degree to satisfy credential requirements.

6. EVALUATION

6.1 Semi-annually by principal or designate for 1st year teachers.
6.2 Annually by principal or designate for probationary teachers.
6.3 Bi-annually by principal or designate for teachers with permanent status.
