Requirements / Qualifications

The El Dorado County Office of Education, a recognized leader in providing high-quality alternative educational programs, is looking for a talented teacher to join our team as a part of our Charter Home Study Academy program. Our instructional format includes two options: 1) students come to the school site two days per week for classes, and they must complete significant work at home on the other school days; or 2) students complete all of their studies at home, with a parent doing the daily instruction, and they meet regularly with their supervising teacher. We have three vacancies: one 12-20 hours per week, one 30-40 hours per week, and one 40 hours per week 12-20 hours: This position will include teaching a twice weekly, 3 hour elementary grade class on Tuesday and Thursday and serving as a supervising teacher who will effectively work with individual students. 30-40 hours and 40 hours: This position will include a twice weekly, 3 hour elementary grade class of all core subjects on Tuesday and Thursday and teaching at the middle school level on Wednesday and Friday in either Math, ELA, and/or Social Studies. This position includes both teaching in a classroom and serving as a supervising teacher who will effectively work with individual students.

Our program is looking for a teacher who has ability to teach in both the elementary and middle school environments and can prepare and deliver meaningful classroom and at-home experiences which are motivational and academically rigorous. Our students use technology and teachers utilize a web-based Learning Management Systems (L.M.S.) to create a seamless educational experience for students. Class sizes run around 15-20 students. Characteristics we are looking for: • Applicant must be fully credentialed in either English, Social Studies, and/or multiple subject • We are looking for a team member who can contribute talents, interests and abilities to our school. • An effective and dynamic instructor who loves to work with students individually as well as in a classroom setting. • A dynamic individual with the ability to teach in both K-5 and 6-8 settings. • A person who passionately embraces new ideas, change, and out-of-the-box thinking. We are not a traditional five-day-a-week program. • A person who wants to actively contribute to an environment which is committed to high quality service to our students and families. • The ability to create, adapt, and modify curriculum to work in a program which meets only two days per week. • The ability to quickly connect with students, inspire them, and maintain a culture of learning and mutual respect. • A person who is technologically savvy. • Compassion and interpersonal skills are key. Our schools are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
