We plan to turn the typical high school experience on its head, so this is not your average teacher role. In fact, in our model students will be led by ‘learning coaches’, not teachers and they will attend ‘school’ via live video and online chat, not classrooms and lecture halls. As a learning coach, you will be responsible for a group of 15-20 high schoolers and you will guide them through all aspects of their high school experience - including setting and meeting academic goals, leading engaging online discussions and other learning experiences, providing career advice and life coaching and just generally supporting each student as they prepare for successful adult lives. You don’t have to have a background in teaching (though this certainly can be helpful) but you should have a passion for education and have great respect for and rapport with teenagers. While daily interactions with students will be virtual (and you can therefore be located anywhere in the world) you will have significant opportunities to meet your students in person. This is a perfect job for anyone who wants to have a meaningful, lifelong impact on the lives of young people, and could especially be perfect for teachers who love being with students but feel stifled by the rigidity and bureaucracy of the traditional education system.
