The Preuss School at UC San Diego is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income scholars who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As a department within UC San Diego Academic Affairs, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban scholars for college admission. Under the supervision of the Principal, The Preuss School teachers are focused on the attainment of the California Standards for the teaching profession: a. Engaging/supporting all students in learning; b. Creating/maintaining an effective environment; c. Understanding/organizing subject matter; d. Planning instruction; e. Designing learning experiences; f. Assessing student learning; g. Developing as professional.
