Job Summary
Cal State University East Bay is the designated lead agency for the Hayward Promise Neighborhoods initiative. As such, it has the fiscal and programmatic responsibility to ensure that the $6 million/year for five years is appropriately distributed among the 10 funded partners and is making the necessary progress towards achieving the results set by the funder, the US Department of Education. The HPNs Executive Director will lead and direct the day-to-day operations of the Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPNs) grant. This position will work closely with the 10 funded partner project directors, data managers and budget leads to ensure accountability around achieving results grounded in compliance with US Department of Education, CSUEB Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and CSUEB fiscal policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for representing the HPNs initiative at the local, state and national level to ensure deliverables are in alignment with policies and regulations required by each governmental body. This position is the lead agency's point of contact for the US Department of Education and the following Promise Neighborhood Institute technical assistance providers: Urban Institute (national evaluator for projects), Center for the Study of Social Policy, Annie E. Casey Foundation and PolicyLink. This is a temporary appointment contingent upon grant funding.
Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of professional leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead leaders and facilitate conversations and processes that surface issues and challenge existing systems to better serve the community. Experience with PreK-12 schools and institutions of higher education and an understanding of educational policies and procedures that impact student achievement and family and community engagement.
