Position Summary
General Responsibilities:
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: coordination of instructional programs and/or teaching assigned classes, if assigned, under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance, including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; and fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Under the general direction of the assigned Student Services Administrator, the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) Coordinator coordinates, implements, and oversees daily activities of the EOPS/Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Program/NextUp (Cooperating Agencies Foster Youth Educational Support (CAFYES). The EOPS Coordinator ensures compliance with a variety of state and federal laws, guidelines, and regulations; develops, monitors, and communicates the program’s goals and objectives; identifies and coordinates appropriate accommodations for students in the program; and provides counseling services, as needed, to students and affiliated programs within EOPS.
The department maintains a focus on:
? Enhancing student equity and the work that is at the heart of the College’s development of Guided Pathways.
? Administering EOPS/CARE/NextUp (CAFYES) Programs for students and other student services programs.
? Leveraging technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and other student services operations.
? Building collaborative relationships within and among various Student Services departments, Instruction, as well as other constituent groups throughout the College and community.
? Assessing program effectiveness, developing and implementing goals, expediting work flow, managing fiscal resources, and bringing projects to timely and successful completion.
? Promoting advancement of students and equity.
? Staff professional development/training; promoting respect and civility in the workplace and academic community at-large; and thoughtfully planning and facilitating positive organizational change.
? Learning and knowledge of student development theory.
? Supporting and promoting Guided Pathways and equity.
Assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in an instructional/coordinator split assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Have a master’s degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work or Career Development; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area; OR the equivalent.* All degrees must be from an accredited institution, completed by August 22, 2020.
AND
2A. Have completed a minimum of nine semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages.
OR
2B. Have completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages.
3. Have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages.
4. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
