DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
To assist he school principal in providing school wide educational and administrative leadership and to learn the role of the principal. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal. The school vice-principal will serve as an educational leader: administrator of the professional staff and students at the school site; he/she will participate in staff, student and community activities; supervises the work performed by certificated and classified staff, student activities, curriculum, communications and articulation with the principal, District, other schools, parents, students, and the public.
DUTIES:
Duties of the Vice-Principal shall include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
ü Assists the principal in the general administration of the school and assumes responsibility in his/her absence.
ü Assists in the establishment and enforcement of policies and procedures.
ü Assists with student counseling and guidance as it relates to discipline and attendance.
ü Assist in the supervision of student activities and school projects and serves on committees as assigned by the principal.
ü Assists with the planning, development and implementation of the instructional program and staff development.
ü Assists in the evaluation and supervision of all regular and substitute certificated personnel and classified personnel assigned to the school.
ü Assists in the development of performance objectives relating to expected standards of students’ academic achievement.
ü Assists in developing evaluation criteria and assumes responsibility for measuring performance of students.
ü Assists the principal in developing curriculum and interpreting to students, parents, and members of the community.
ü Maintains communication with the principal relating to problems, concerns, activities and achievements of students and staff.
ü Assists the school principal in working with community clubs and organizations.
ü Assists in writing and implementing school site plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, and education of students and staff.
ü Maintains communication between students, parents, staff and the general community.
ü Provide supervision before, during student breaks, and after school to ensure student safety and rules and regulations are being followed.
ü Assists with student activity programs that improve student performance and achievement.
ü Performs other duties as directed by the designated principal.

ü Management principles and practices, including organization, supervision, and training.
ü Principles and procedures associated with curriculum development and implementation.
ü Decision-making process and how it relates to staff, students, and the public.
ü Laws, policies and regulations relating to school administration.

ü Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate personnel.

ü Prepare, administer, monitor and control and annual school plan and budget.
ü Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents and the public contacted in performance of duties.
ü Interpret, apply, explain and enforce rules, regulations, and requirements and restrictions.
ü Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION/EXERIENCE:
ü Valid Administrative Services Credential
ü Four years classroom teaching experience required
ü Valid Teaching Credential
ü MA/MS Degree with a concentration in Education preferred
ü Two years previous elementary level administrative experience preferred
