Job Summary

Job Summary

Under limited supervision of the Senior Director, Special Education will teach academic and life experience skills; provide assistive technology and/or alternative, augmentative communication services to meet the individual needs of students with physical impairments in a variety of settings. Services can include instruction, consultation, and assessment associated with augmentative communication systems, modification of computer systems, specialized computer assistance, and determination of access. Provide referral, assessment, IEP and support services to students in a variety of educational settings.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate California Teaching Credential (Education Specialist – Physical and Health Impairments, an added authorization of Orthopedic Impairment, or a credential that authorizes serving Orthopedically Impaired students). Successful completion of Assistive Technology certificate program is highly desirable. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and Insurance.

School Year: 185 days per year. Locations: This is an itinerant position. It may include travel to various SCCOE school sites. MA (pro-rated) stipend $1,500; Doctorate (pro-rated) stipend $400. Fully paid dental and vision insurance covering both employee and dependents. The employee is also provided with long-term disability insurance and life insurance. Medical benefits: There is an employee paid portion for medical benefits depending upon the medical plan chosen which covers employee and dependents. MUST SUBMIT RESUME; THREE LETTERS OF REFERENCE AND A COVER LETTER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION
