Requirements / Qualifications

**Substitutes are "on-call" employees serving on a day-to-day basis. **The intent of a substitute is to fill in for an employee who is on a leave of absence. Substitutes are called for assignments through an automated system- Absence Managment (Aesop). Be advised that absences are unpredictable; therefore assignment offers are not guaranteed. BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assists certificated teacher(s) in the instruction of students placed in regular programs; monitor and report student progress in areas of behavior and performance; perform clerical and instructional support duties. EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent and must meet NCLB requirements (48 college semester units from an accredited college or university; or successful completion of the District Instructional Paraeducator Proficiency Exam). PARAEDUCATOR PROFICIENCY EXAM: Instructional Paraeducator Proficiency Test: The Paraeducator Proficiency Test is offered by appointment only through the Twin Rivers Adult Education School. Adult Education School 5703 Skvarla Avenue McClellan, CA 95652 916-566-3524 Test Information This test covers the areas of English (including reading, writing and grammar), Mathematics (no calculators allowed), and the Ability to Assist. A tutorial/study guide is available for review in the Adult Ed Office. The test consists of 100 multiple choice questions. An examinee must score a minimum of 75% in order to pass the test.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS The following are additional requirements to substitute for Paraeducator III: -pass Lift Test -CPR and First Aid Certification

  • Copy of Transcript (48 College Semester Unites OR Paraeducator Proficiency Exam Certificate (must be completed through Twin Rivers Unified School District))
  • Other (Proof of HS Graduation)
  • Resume

Contingent upon hire, provide proof of a negative TB reading (no older than 4 years), and pass a criminal background check by the Department of Justice and FBI. Must pass Employee Entrance Evaluation (lift test).
