Job Summary

The Greenfield Union School District announces the opening of Custodian - 8 hour position. The Custodian is under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, Operations & Transportation, Supervisor of Maintenance Grounds & Custodial and of the site principal. The major duties of the custodian are to vacuum carpets, sweep, mop and wax floors; clean rest rooms; wash chalkboards/whiteboards, windows and walls; polish metal work; dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles; knowledge of operation of cleaning equipment; assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, and setting up building and rooms; makes minor repairs, replacing lights, adjusting desk or other furniture, adjusting shades or blinds; cleans blinds; scrapes and refinishes floors; picks up paper and/or debris on grounds and courts of buildings; mowing, trimming, & edging of yards; sweeps sidewalks; removes cobwebs; performs emergency cleanup service; attends training and in-service sessions as required; reports safety, sanitary and/or fire hazards to supervisor; unlocks and locks doors and gates; responsible to secure their assignment and check all doors and windows to see if they are locked; raises and lowers flag; assists in handling supplies and unloading deliveries; perform other duties as required by Supervisor of Maintenance & Operations and/or site principal of the assigned school.
