Job Summary
Point Arena Schools, encompassing both Arena Union Elementary School District and Point Arena Joint Union High School District, is nestled along California's scenic Mendocino Coast. We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about enhancing students' communication abilities, thereby contributing to their overall academic and social success. This role involves working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other specialists to address the diverse speech and language needs of our student population. Key Responsibilities: - Assessment & Diagnosis: Identify students with communication disorders through comprehensive evaluations, interpreting diagnostic data to determine the presence and extent of speech or language impairments. - Individualized Planning: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, ensuring alignment with educational goals. - Therapeutic Intervention: Provide evidence-based therapy sessions targeting articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication disorders. - Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom setting, offering strategies and resources to support student progress. - Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student evaluations, progress reports, and therapy sessions, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. - Professional Development:Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology, participating in ongoing training and workshops. Requirements / Qualifications
Possession of any valid credential issued by the State of California to perform the services of a speech and language therapist: *Specialist Credential in Special Education-Communication Handicapped *Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language, Speech, and Hearing with Special Class Authorization *Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development (or comparable) Certificate *Computer literate
