Primary Function
Under the direction of the Cafeteria Lead, the Cafeteria Assistant will assist in preparing and serving foods in the cafeteria, snack bar, or central kitchen; clean kitchen equipment and eating utensils; and do related work as required.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities: may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in preparation and set up of meal entrees with the goal of speed of service and attractive presentation.
- Maintain an accurate inventory.
- Provide food preparation and customer service.
- Cleans serving and eating areas; cleans kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, and related cooking equipment; washes dishes; replenishes seasoning and napkin containers; stacks canned goods and cases in storage rooms
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety.
- Assist in serving and cleaning up after meal periods.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Knowledge of methods of preparing sandwiches, salads, and related food items; sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance; basic kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Bilingual preferred.
Hours and Schedule
2.5 hours per day, four days per week
