Job Summary

Under the supervision of the site AVID Coordinator, AVID tutors are a critical part of preparing students for College and Career. AVID classrooms conduct tutorial sessions, which are based on questions that students bring from their academic content classes. The tutorials are a collaborative, inquiry-based process, in which tutors facilitate the groups by asking questions of the student presenter and the group. The entire group works together to help the student presenter solve their problems. All students are required to reflect on the process and their learning at the end of the session. AVID Tutors: *Serve as a tutor in middle and high school AVID classrooms. *Facilitate learning and implement AVID methodologies by performing collaborative inquiry-based processes. *Assist in teaching study skills and other aspects of college preparation. *Monitor student progress during tutorials, providing feedback to students and teachers. *Assist students in improving organizational strategies. *Perform related duties as assigned by the AVID Coordinator.
