Characteristics of Class
Under supervision of a teacher/administrator, employee assists in developing and implementing programs, which promote positive relationships between parents, community representatives, and school personnel. Employee acts as liaison between parent and community groups, teachers and other employees of the San Francisco Unified School District for the purpose of providing information and developing a better understanding among these groups. Employee works with Instructional Aides and volunteers. Employee performs related duties as required.
Some positions may require conversational and written skills in a specific language(s) other than English related to the needs of the assignment. An ability to translate and adapt materials to and from English into that language(s) may also be required.
Some positions may require that the employee furnish a certificate of clearance from the Department of Motor Vehicles in order to meet District insurability.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The employee is responsible for the organization, implementation, and coordination of a community relations program involving multiple services. Employee must work with a designated pupil population under the supervision of an administrator. Duties include assisting in the implementation of the program designed to effectively serve this pupil population.
Minimum Qualifications
At least four years of progressively responsible experience in community relations or public relations (Two years of college in social sciences or a related field may be substituted for two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.).

Utilizes knowledge appropriate to satisfy the Distinguishing
Characteristics of the class listed above, example of which may include familiarity with the goals of specific programs or projects as well as the District’s organization, rules and regulations, policies and programs as they relate to parents in various communities. Demonstrates competency in performing the following tasks; working with pupils and adults, acting quickly and effectively in emergencies, working with and relating to all individuals within the culturally diverse environment of SFUSD, and developing and maintaining effective, courteous communications with pupils, staff and public.
Examples of Duties: R70
1. Works with Instructional Aides in the recruitment of parents for Advisory Groups for
schools within an assigned area.
2. Organizes, implements, and coordinates informational workshops and multicultural
events and projects for parents, school staff, pupils, and members of the community,
attends meetings and reports on the progress of the program as needed.
3. Supervisors and participates in the preparation and distribution of brochures,
newsletters, media presentations and other educational materials to inform parents and
the community of school policies and other issues related to the welfare of school age
pupils.
4. As assigned, may train, direct, organize and oversee Instructional Aides in tutorial
program objectives, primary intervention program objectives and parent liaison
contacts.
5. May assist in administering the budget allocated to the school community relations
program in the assigned area; keep inventories of supplies.
6. As assigned, performs a variety of services through the Student Attendance Office;
aids in referring pupils to special programs; supervises and participates in the
maintenance of special program assignments records.
7. Performs related duties as required.

Under the direction of the Site Administrator, Career Pathways Site Coordinator will:
Build connections with families and community to support student learning
Ensure that curriculum is aligned to and focused on a clear set of outcomes and competencies that align to CTE standards, the SFUSD Graduate Profile, the Common Core State Standards, the most current industry and post-secondary standards, and other “soft skills”
Ensure programs of study are coherent, sequenced, include access to Early College (dual enrollment, articulation), and support a clear pipeline to college and/or workforce
Monitor elements of “pathway quality” at school site, promoting essential structures and conditions and leading multi-year planning for both pathways.
Coordinate and co-facilitate career readiness and weekly job readiness curriculum
Support work-based learning implementation, work permits and individualized student supports to ensure that each student in the pathway fully participates in transformative school year and summer work-based learning
Coordinate, plan and facilitate curriculum planning release days for interdisciplinary teams (including location, substitutes, etc.) to develop integrated project-based learning
Plan and manage equipment, substitute, transportation requests, invoices and budgets
Coordinate with school counselor to ensure all pathway students have connected college exploration, college access and application support, including FAFSA/DREAM
Coordinate and support dual enrollment that is part of the Pathway program of study (CCSF application sessions, registration, student follow up, etc.)
Support students in outreach and preparation for summer and/or after school internships
Support data collection (including student surveys), student database, Annual Career Pathways Application for Funding, Showcase
Work with appropriate parties to provide technical support for pathway facilities
Attend professional developments and bimonthly coordinator meetings
Work with the school’s SART and SAP teams to support student attendance and success in the pathways: this will include daily phone calls home and home visits.
Support school-wide goals and initiatives
Other duties as assigned by the principal and/or school site administrators
