Job Summary
The On-Campus Assistive Technology Teacher Specialist and Coordinator collaborates with teachers, specialists, and residential staff on-campus to promote individual skill building and use of assistive technology to promote access to differentiated curricula in the various programs on campus. Works directly with teachers to help create and plan lessons that integrate technology and build student expectations in using technology and advancing their skills, including assessing student skills and developing appropriate technology goals. Including creating curricula, how-to guides, and other support products as appropriate. The On-Campus Assistive Technology Teacher Specialist and Coordinator interacts with the core and expanded core curriculum, as appropriate for each student, including low vision assessments, functional vision needs for school and community, daily living skills, recreational interests, knowledge of visual impairment, and other areas of the expanded core curriculum. This should include knowledge of academic expectations for students in mainstream and special settings and development of typical learners to facilitate knowledge of and recommendations in best practices for use of technology for students with visual impairments. The On-Campus Assistive Technology Teacher Specialist and Coordinator coordinates and completes technology assessments for triennial IEPS. Supports other assessments on campus including suitability of placement IEPs and assessments through the Assessment Center. The On-Campus Assistive Technology Teacher Specialist and Coordinator teaches short-term elective courses and workshops to CSB students to meet unique educational needs and to provide additional educational opportunities. Assists in short courses and on-campus and community wide events such as White Cane Day, Vendor Day, Assistive Technology Center Open House, etc. The On-Campus Assistive Technology Teacher Specialist and Coordinator manages technology inventory

Required Qualifications- •Applicants must possess at least one of the following valid credentials: -California Education Specialist’s Credential in Visual Impairment -California Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in O&M •Experience working with students with blindness including students with multiple disabilities. •Extensive knowledge in using and teaching technology and assistive technology.

•Ability and interest in working in a collaborative work environment and providing consultation and training to educational team members including conducting presentations and workshops.
•Knowledge of specialized curriculum for students with visual impairments, including students with additional disabilities
•Knowledge of the California Common Core State Standard – must be able to scaffold goals to level of student and write goals to meet the needs of students who are VI and have multiple disabilities
•Must have an understanding of the ECC and have experience implementing curriculum with a variety of students and age-ranges
•Experience writing IEP/ITP goals and implementing them
•Extensive knowledge of Braille and experience teaching Braille to VI students who have multiple disabilities
•Knowledge of Functional Vision Assessments, Learning Media Assessments, and Low Vision assessments– experience in assessing and writing / implementing goals from results preferred.
•Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively within the assessment team and Education Resource Center as well as with a wide range of stakeholders.
•Proactive self-starter with the ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities, and maintain focus on both short-term and long-term goals.
•Savvy internet skills in researching and discovering deliverables and resources
*Effective July 1, 2020, this classification is subjected to two days of Personal Leave Program 2020 per month. This will result in a 9.23% reduction in pay for 24 months.
The salary for this position is as follows:
Base Salary per month: $6,003 - $8,291
Recruitment & Retention per month: $ 700
Total Salary per month: $6,703 - $8.891
Annual Salary: $80,436 - $107,892
