Carpinteria Unified School District is hiring for a paraprofessional to join the After School Program team within Aliso Elementary. This is a part-time position in the afternoons; selected applicant will be in charge of a group of 20 students assisting with homework and various activities including sports and crafting. The shift for this position will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Carpinteria Unified School District is currently searching for an Instructional Assistant I to serve our children within our Aliso Elementary After School Program. The After School Program is an education and enrichment program designed to provide school age children with a safe environment after the regular school day ends. We are looking for a leader who is motivated, dependable, responsible, and able to lead a group of 20 students in organized activities, including homework assistance.

The shift for this position will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

* Instructional Assistants (IA’s) provide a safe and engaging experience while maintaining structure and order. CUSD IA’s will ensure that all children receive equal attention, will assist with attendance recording, and will interact with parents as needed.  

The position requires the ability to perform in an indoors and outdoors environment. Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to speak to groups, and to hear sound prompts from equipment. Requires ambulatory ability to move about office, classroom/laboratory, and school grounds, to tutor, assist with presentations, and reach work materials. Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, to point out important words/figures to students, and to operate personal computers. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies, furniture, etc. of light-to-medium weight (under 50 lbs) on an intermittent basis.

This position requires the equivalent of a high school diploma plus experience working with students is preferred – this is a great opportunity for those seeking a career working with children.
