Job Summary

Job Summary

The Campus Security Officer works to ensure the security of a high school campus, in conjunction with the police department, by patrolling school campus grounds, corridors, restrooms, parking lots, bus loading areas, buildings, and adjacent areas. The Officer supports administrative staff in coordinating adherence to District policies regarding class attendance, behavior, and general conduct, and performs a variety of related duties as assigned by the site administrator. The current vacancy is at San Luis Obispo High School.

Requirements / Qualifications

Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis. Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an exam. Possession of a valid California Driver's license and CPR/First Aid certification required. Additional training required within six months of hire (see job description for additional details). REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (must be submitted prior to the test date)
  • Driver's License Copy
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (at least two signed letters from professional references, composed within the last two years, and preferably on letterhead)
  • Resume (include dates worked at each location)

The purpose of this recruitment is to fill one current vacancy, as indicated above, and to create an eligibility list for vacancies occurring in our District over the next 6 months. Start date for the current vacancy is dependent upon Fingerprint and TB clearance. EXAM INFORMATION: Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an exam. The exam is tentatively scheduled for December 19, 2019, in San Luis Obispo. Confirmation of exam date and time, and additional details will be provided to candidates who are invited to move on in the process, after initial screening. Candidates who pass the exam with a score of 70% or higher will be invited to oral board interviews, date TBD. Candidates must pass oral board interviews with a score of 70% or higher to be added to the eligibility list. The top three (3) ranked candidates after the exam and oral board interviews will be invited to a hiring interview, date TBD. SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces in time of war, or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months. *Employees holding a position (or combination of positions) of 36 hours per week or more are required to enroll in a health benefits plan.
