ABOUT SCHOOL OF UNLIMITED LEARNING School of Unlimited Learning (SOUL) educational program is located at the Fresno EOC Sanctuary Youth Center at 2336 Calaveras Street. SOUL’s instructional staff consists of 11 fully credentialed, full-time teachers, who serve an average of 200 students per semester. SOUL offers a rigorous academic, standards-based curriculum. SOUL is an excellent educational option for those seeking a small school alternative to a large, traditional high school. The mission of the School of Unlimited Learning Charter High School is to provide comprehensive learning experiences in a manner and in an environment that enables students to obtain skills, knowledge, and motivation to be self-directed, life-long learners as they mature toward self-sufficiency.

Job Summary

Provides instruction to high school students as a substitute teacher. Assist in achieving the agency’s vision, “For Those We Serve,” by empowering individuals who thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities.

Requirements / Qualifications

To execute this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree and valid substitute teaching credential through the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience as a substitute teacher at the secondary/high school level.
  • Knowledge of concepts in computers in an instructional environment and able to work with cooperative group's methods.
  • Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with youth/teens and diverse population, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.
  • Pass required background investigation including medical examination and TB clearance, acceptable criminal record statement, Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
