Job Summary
Under the direction of the Trades Supervisor, maintain and perform skilled work in the repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing fixtures and systems; maintain and repair heating, refrigeration and ventilation systems as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Must obtain backflow certificate after employment as soon as the licensing requirements can be met.
KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, equipment and materials used in the plumbing trade. Applicable building and/or plumbing codes and regulations. Backflow prevention devices and testing procedures. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy Health and safety regulations. Technical aspects of field of specialty. Basic record-keeping techniques. Basic methods, equipment and materials used in the plumbing trade. ABILITY TO: Perform skilled work in the repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing systems. Lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment. Move objects weighing over 80 pounds using safe and proper methods and/or equipment. Maintain routine records. Operate a variety of tools, equipment and machines utilized in the plumbing trade. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches. Work independently with little direction. Plan and organize work. Observe legal and defensive driving practices. Work cooperatively and effectively with others. Complete assignments in an efficient and timely manner. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate journey-level skill in the plumbing trade.

- 8 hours per day (wiht 1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
- 12 months a year
- SALARY: Step 50
Employees new to the district will start at step I of the salary schedule.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves indoor and outdoor environments; subject to lifting,
climbing and exposure to fumes and electrical systems of varying voltages.
