The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

Job Summary

The OCDE is looking for a dynamic Program Specialist, Crisis Response Network to support the day-to-day development, implementation, and management of the Crisis Response Network (CRN) throughout Orange County. In addition the person selected will provide resources and program development, coordinate crisis response training, staff development, student and parent presentations. They will coordinate linkages between school districts, mental health agencies, law enforcement, fire authority, community based organizations, and other CRN partners. This position is full-time and will be based out of Kalmus Office located at 200 Kalmus Drive, Costa Mesa, CA. 92626. Work schedule may involve evening and weekends depending if there is a need.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, social work, education or a related field. Master's Degree Preferred. Experience. Four years of increasingly responsible experience in programs and services which address issues of crisis response and safe school planning, collaboration, and program implementation.
