DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT California’s Adolescent Literacy Initiative (a.k.a. CALI Reads) is a 5-year grant awarded to the California Department of Education and administered through the Napa County Office of Education. Currently in Year Two of the project, CALI Reads works with nine districts and twenty seven middle schools across California who have high numbers of struggling readers. The project offers personnel development to participating middle school teachers and administrators through CALI Reads training, materials, and coaches in order to boost student literacy skills and outcomes.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Program Coordinator will plan, organize and perform a wide variety of administrative and technical duties in support of the successful completion of work scope, goals and deliverables of the grant-funded project. The Project Coordinator will facilitate and oversee communication, planning, and data collection at the site level, as well as, contribute to stakeholder reporting requirements. The Project Coordinator will actively monitor Site activity, participant engagement and progress, and make recommendations to the team to address areas of need. The Project Coordinator will serve as a liaison for different project entities such as Sites, Coaches and Parent Training Centers to help facilitate project timelines. The Project Coordinator will help facilitate the subcontracting process, monitor project compliance and the invoicing of subcontractors, monitor budgets of assigned areas, and communicate with contractors and vendors. The Project Coordinator will also plan and organize events through selection of venue, managing schedules, assembling training materials, and overseeing event logistics.
