Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the RTI teacher will implement  strategies in direct with students to ensure that all children can achieve at grade level.  Methods used will  include, but will not be limited to implementation of the District’s adopted content area programs, and the implementation of intervention programs to assist children who do not master grade level skills from first instruction.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Response to Intervention Teacher performs instruction to individual or small group of children who do not master grade level skills from first instruction.

 REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

 Implements the Response to Intervention model for increasing student achievement.  E

 Works with the Principal, to create learning environments where all students, including  children learning English and children who entered school without   preschool experience, meet kindergarten benchmarks.  E

 Provides direct intervention instruction to students.  E

 Works closely with the administration to ensure high fidelity implementation of the state  adopted programs.  E

 Assists teachers in collecting data.  E

 Assists teachers in using data to drive instruction.  E

 Supports the principal in making data driven decisions about instruction.  E

 Establishes and maintains open communication and uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.  E

 Supports collegiality and team building among staff members.  E

 Assists in creating a positive school climate.  E

 Performs related duties assigned.  E

 Classroom/community and outdoor environment.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 2 – 5 years of successful teaching experience

 Experience in assessing student skill and knowledge

 Experience in using assessment results to guide instruction

 Experience working with EL students

 Experience in teaching the state adopted curriculum

 AB466 ELA Training

 Equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor of Arts or higher degree from an accredited college or University

Posses a valid California Multiple Subject BCLAD/CLAD credential
