Fallbrook Union High School District HEATING, VENTILATION, & AIR CONDITIONING/ ENERGY MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM TECHNICIAN DRAFT JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Director of Maintenance, Operation, and Transportation. Working with prescribed voltage/amperage perimeters, perform skilled electrical and mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems. Operate, monitor adjust, maintain, and repair the district-wide computerized energy management control systems. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: · Diagnose, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, maintain, and service forced air heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment. · Calibrate and repair electric controls related to such equipment. · Operation, maintenance, and repair of computerized energy management control systems (i.e., Trane, Staefa, Johnson Controls), including installation of necessary software updates, system scheduling and programming, and system hardware repairs and maintenance. · Utilize computerized energy management control systems to operation district-wide HVAC systems and equipment in as energy efficient manner as possible. · Assist in laying out, evaluating, and estimating costs of job request. · · Order parts and supplies. · Maintain appropriate parts inventory. · May assist other trades person with work assignments as directed. · Perform other related duties as required. EDUCATION / TRAINING: Any combination of education, training, and/or experience, which demonstrated ability to perform the required duties. A typical qualifying background would include journey level experience and training in the repair, maintenance, and installation of air conditioning/heating, and refrigeration equipment, as well as experience utilizing a computerized energy management control system. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: · Design, operation, maintenance, control, and repair of heating, ventilation, Refrigeration, and air condition systems. · Computerized energy management control systems hardware, sensors, cabling, and related software. · Instruments and equipment used in repair of such equipment. · Existing laws relating to the operations of systems. · Standard safety regulations, including working with various voltage/amperage. · Thermostat calibrations, damper adjustments, unit balancing, contacts, and relays. · UNT and VAV controllers, software installation into hardware controllers. · Basic installation and alteration of electrical systems related to the air conditioning/heating systems. · Proper methods, materials tools and equipment used in the air conditioning, heating, ventilation trade, as well as maintenance trades in general. Ability to: · Layout, estimate, and evaluate cost effectiveness of performing jobs inside/outside. · Operate a computer terminal to view, enter, schedule, change, and retrieve data related to computerized energy management control system operations. · Use and work from schematics, diagrams, blueprints, plans, and specifications to accomplish repairs and adjustments to both HVAC equipment and energy management control systems. · Maintain a variety of records, manuals, and software data associated to line of work. · Understand and follow oral and written instructions. · Install, make repairs, maintain, and modify refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment. · Check systems and repair electric controls. · Work cooperatively with others. · Operate power and had tools common to the trade. License: · Must possess a valid California driver’s license and the ability to qualify, and maintain qualification, for District vehicle insurance coverage. Certificates: · Universal certificate issued by completing the Refrigerant Transition & Recovery Certification Program. PHYSICAL ABILITY: The selected candidate must be able to perform the duties of a rigorous work schedule, which includes: · Climbing ladders and working from heights, lifting, loading, and unloading heavy objects. · Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. · Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching and pass a physical examination and drug screen.
