Located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, the El Monte Union High School District was established in 1901. Its high schools include Arroyo, El Monte, Mountain View, Rosemead, South El Monte and Fernando R. Ledesma High School. EMUHSD also features the El Monte-Rosemead Adult School, one of California’s largest and most respected adult programs. EMUHSD employs over 600 certificated employees and over 500 classified employees. The professional staff provides educational programs for over 7,000 students in grades 9 through 12 and 11,000 in adult education. BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide direct services to students and promote student achievement through increased parental involvement.

 

Classification Characteristics:

This is a bargaining unit position.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Incumbents perform a variety of technical accounting duties related to federal and State project and categorical funds.

 

 

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Assists with planning and organizing parental involvement activities (i.e. English Learner Advisory Committee, Parent Institute for Quality Education, Parent Involvement Academy, etc.) including agendas and minutes;
  • Promotes parental involvement through various forms of communication (i.e. phone calls, bulletins, flyers, etc.);
  • Assists with planning and organizing for staff attendance at professional development activities including the handling of all pertinent paperwork for attendance, travel, lodging, mileage, and expense reimbursements;
  • Assists with placement process for English learners;
  • Assists with monitoring of student achievement data;
  • Assists with the purchase and record-keeping of instructional materials and/or resources;
  • Keeps on-going record of expenditures of site categorical funds;
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and materials as required; orders, receives, and distributes materials, equipment, and supplies according to established procedures;
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties including typing, filing, record-keeping, proofreading, and processing written information; prepares and types a variety of documents and forms including requisitions, work orders, and financial and statistical data/forms;
  • Types letters, memoranda, bulletins, reports, and files related to Categorical Programs; prepares and completes forms and documents and distributes to appropriate personnel or District office; compiles information and prepares summaries and reports including attendance and enrollment date;
  • Schedules appointments, conferences, and meetings with parents; maintains various schedules and calendars;
  • Maintains payroll and time and absence records for categorical programs staff as requested;
  • Trains and provides guidance and direction to student assistants;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
