POSITION DESCRIPTION
Working under the direction of the Principal, Adult Education. Teacher will be responsible to plan, implement, and evaluate learning activities and individual, as well as class, instructional results for High School Equivalency Test Preparation in both academic English and academic Spanish for the following subject areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. In addition to HSE Test Prep, instructor should be qualified to provide instruction for High School Exit Exams and Entrance Exams for college placement. Specific course, subject area(s) and language dependent upon student need and enrollment.
This is a part-time temporary assignment requiring the ability to communicate in academic Spanish.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records related to student performance and attendance
- In a timely manner, accurately perform related duties as assigned/required
- Participate in professional development, WASC and other site initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credentials and experience
- Appropriate Designated Subjects Adult Education credential, Multiple Subject credential, Single Subject: Mathematics, Language Arts, Spanish Language preferred.
- Valid Drivers’ License
Knowledge of:
- Correct English/Spanish usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Algebra and Geometry.
- Introductory Biology and Chemistry.
- US and World History.
- Instructional strategies for adult learners.
- Common Core standards.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.
- Prepare reports and maintain records.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Meet deadlines.
