Job Summary

Under the direction of the Site Lead in coordination with the Director-Food Services, assists in the preparation and serving of hot and cold foods in the central kitchen and/or a school cafeteria; perform routine cashiering duties; maintain food service facilities, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.

Knowledge of: * Basic food preparation including washing, cutting and assembling food items and ingredients. * Basic kitchen utensils and equipment. * Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. * Proper lifting techniques. * Packaging and distribution of large quantities of food. * Basic math and cashiering skills. * Oral and written communication skills with co-workers and the student population. * Basic record keeping. * Sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance. * Quantify food preparation and handling. Qualified applicants will be invited to test for this position. The test will take place at the Santa Cruz City Schools District Office located in downtown Santa Cruz.
