The essential functions of the job include: performing administrative and/or management functions in the areas of office management/support services, budget, and/or contract/grant development; managing office and coordinating the activities of clerical/technical staff, developing and administering budgets, contracts, leases, agreements and/or grants; supervising and evaluating assigned staff; conducting training; assisting in the development and recommending changes to rules, regulations, policies and procedures; gathering, compiling and analyzing data, and preparing reports; acting as liaison and representing department at meetings. Essential Duties • Manages the resources for the Child Development Program • Monitors the available budget • Oversees various staffing and personnel related functions • Plans and prioritizes the functions of the program • Compiles and produces a variety of status reports for management team • Ensures compliance with established departmental policies, procedures, and goals, as well as legal requirements and regulatory mandates. • Supervises the work of assigned staff; plans, assigns, directs and reviews work, monitors and evaluates performance of subordinate personnel; and completes performance appraisals. • Develops and/or recommends policies and procedures for the Child Development program. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Current incumbency in Class 1844 Senior Management Assistant; OR 2. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance, economics social sciences, psychology, education, criminal justice, social work or closely related field; AND Three (3) years of verifiable experience performing administrative and/or management functions; OR two (2) years of experience in class 1842 Management Assistant or class 1822 Administrative Analyst. (Qualifying experience must have been gained within the last ten years) Substitution: Additional qualifying experience can be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required education on a year-for-year basis (30 semester units/45 quarter units equals one (1) year of experience.) Special Conditions: Some positions may require specialized experience in areas of office management/administration, administrative or legislative policy development and analysis, educational program development or management or experience related to specific department programs or functions. Some positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license.
