Helix has served its community as a traditional public high school from 1951 - 1996, then as a public charter school from 1998 to present. Helix was the first public comprehensive high school in California to convert to a charter high school, and while much about the educational program has changed to best serve the student population, the tradition of the school has remained. ACADEMIC COACH POSITION 

 

Academic Coaches will work with students, parents, community and staff to promote Helix Charter High School’s Mission and Vision for all students. Academic Coaches are committed to social-emotional, personal and academic growth. They are also committed to providing an academic environment that promotes respect, student achievement and college readiness.  The Academic Coaches are also committed to working collaboratively with teachers and GLTs to form teams that take collective responsibility to improve student achievement.

 

This job reports to the Academic Support Coordinator. 

 

Essential Functions 

 

Provide academic support to students in a classroom setting while ensuring a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.

 

Maintains files and records on students (e.g. daily attendance information, conduct and academic performance information, instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and providing reliable information to Academic Support Coordinator and GLTs.

 

Arrive on time, clock in and out daily, provide students with a positive model for success.  Professional dress is required. 

 

Follow the directives of the Academic Support Coordinator to complete/maintain records on each student.  Adhere to performance/integrity standards.  To be eligible for rehire each term you must show growth on each term evaluation. 

 

Experience Job related experience    Education High School diploma/ 48 completed college units

Required Testing As required for position Continuing Educ./Training  On-going

Certificates & Licenses 48 college credits, hours or an AA degree

Clearances Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance TB Clearance
