Stagecoach Lane Fallbrook, CA 92028 Job line: (760) 723-6332 ext. 6495 TEMPORARY THEATER TECHNICIAN SALARY: $8.00 - $15.00 hr. depending on experience BASIC FUNCTION: Assist the Technical Director of the theater in the operation and setup of the theater for events held in the center. This may include but not limited to, Lighting, Sound, Fly System, Stage Management, and assisting clients with any needs they may have. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience and Education Required: Experience in stage management, theater lighting, sound, and fly system. Ability to: Perform a variety of technical duties related to theater productions, communicate effectively, and work independently with a minimum of direction. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Working Hours: Positions in this class are often required to work irregular shifts and overtime Working Conditions: Work with dust, fumes, solvents, glues, climbing and working on ladders, grids, catwalks of heights up to 65 feet. Heavy Work: Lifting, carrying and/or pushing 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Mobility: Positions in this class require mobility of the arms to reach, and dexterity of the hands to grasp and manipulate small objects Vision: Positions in this class require vision (which maybe corrected) to read small print WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work days will vary QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: General audio engineering principles related to theater sound systems; general electrical theory and technique in theater lighting systems; Theater technical operations; Types and uses of stage equipment; Operation of tools and equipment used in maintenance work; Safety practices and procedures, including OSHA & USSITT safety standards; Housekeeping techniques; Recordkeeping practices and procedures. Ability to: Operating a 32-channel mixing console with an 8x8 matrix; Operating a digital and manual lighting control system; Performing routine maintenance activities in electrical, carpentry, and mechanical craft areas; Maintain cooperative working relationships with the public; Operate safely in the technical theater environment; Understand and carry out oral and written instructions; Read and draw lighting plots and schedules; Work from plans, specifications and schematic drawings and charts; Maintain simple records; Supervise or lead the work of students or volunteer crews. Experience and Training Guidelines: Any combination of training, education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: The equivalent of two years theatrical production experience, including technical experience in light and sound direction or design. Training: Completion of at least two years of college level course work in theater arts.
