Requirements / Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Communicative Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology & Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) • California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential or Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential (or eligibility for) • Minimum of three years public school experience as an SLP; additional experience in non-educational settings also valued • California driver’s license and ability to participate in occasional overnight travel

Join the Diagnostic Center's transdisciplinary team and help make a difference for students, families and schools throughout Southern California. Diagnostic Center services are provided by a top-notch team of professionals, including school psychologists, speech/language pathologists, educational specialists, motor specialists, clinical psychologists, and developmental pediatricians. Working as a team, these professionals address the unique educational needs of Southern California's most difficult-to-serve students enrolled in special education programs. HIGHLY DESIRABLE SKILLS • Knowledge of and expertise with a wide range of formal and informal educational assessment methods, curriculum and program planning for students with mild to severe disabilities and/or Autism • Knowledge of and experience with school-based communication interventions and programs • Experience with AAC/AT • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a professional team • Outstanding oral and written communication skills • Experience in consulting or providing staff development to educators • Experience working with culturally diverse populations • Bilingual Spanish • Experience in programming for students in inclusive settings TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • When working on-site, at the Center: weekly, assess two children with highly varied needs; interact with their parents; observe and confer with your colleagues • When working in the field: provide consultant service to members of IEP Teams at public school sites • Compose and present meaningful and practical reports used by educators for students ages 3-22 BENEFITS • Annual Salary range: $88,176.00 – $119,832.00 for 209 days; Monthly: $7,348 – $9,986 (entry based on your present salary) includes $400.00 Recruitment and Retention pay per month • Medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits (CalPERS). California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) is only applicable if you are currently in the CalSTRS system and wish to remain in their retirement system. • Opportunity to work collaboratively with highly competent individuals from other disciplines (e.g., physician, clinical psychologist, education specialist, school psychologist) • Professional work environment including well-equipped private offices
