California Advancing Pathways for Students is recruiting for a Career Technical Education (CTE) Instructor - Makerspace. The position will begin in the Fall 2019. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Makerspace Instructor is to create an innovative classroom space while supervising and instructing students; to provide project based learning aligned to STEM education; to support real world design challenges; and to perform other job-related duties as assigned. DUTIES: Provide students with foundational skills using three-dimensional modeling and construction techniques. Provide an introduction to power tools, soldering, 3D printing, vinyl cutting, and other fabrication methods. Provide students with knowledge in designing, thinking and exploring with both physical and digital materials. Provide students with the knowledge and skills to solve real world design challenges individually and within small groups. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. CTE Credential or Eligible for a CA CTE Credential EXPERIENCE: Candidates must be able to verify three years (3,000 hours) of professional work experience in industry related to a makerspace classroom, with at least one year of hands-on experience and recency of one year in the last five years, or two years within the last 10 years. CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: •Possession of, or ability to obtain during employment at CalAPS, a valid California Designated Subjects Vocational or Career Technical Education Teaching Credential for Manufacturing & Product Development is required.
