ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Serves as special music teacher for primary and elementary students with primary concern being centered on developing basic musical experiences.
Assists teachers with glee club at each elementary school as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Prepares a schedule and visits each classroom on a regular basis to
teach music lessons.
-Teaches skills and the elements of music including rhythm, melody, harmony, form and expression. Utilizes the San Bernardino County Course of Study for Elementary Schools and other appropriate music learning experiences.
-Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate music learning experiences.
-Assists teachers in their efforts to provide musical experiences for their students by paying attention to special requests initiated by teachers and principals.
-Coordinates Glee Clubs, giving assistance with ordering music, teaching the songs, planning programs or serving as accompanist when needed.
-Takes part in County Glee Club festival by forming and directing an Honor Choir.
-Assists teachers through workshops, conferences, or grade level meetings.
Selects appropriate music, books, records, musical instruments, and instructional supplies for each assigned school.
-Maintains surveillance over school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment in each assigned building. (Tune auto-harp and catalog records).
-Develops weekly lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy and curriculum of the District.
-Provides students with the opportunity to partake in daily patriotic observance. Education Code 52720.
-Monitors classroom environment ensuring clean and safe conditions exist and notifying principal of any unclean or unsafe classroom conditions.
-Monitors classroom activities making students responsible for putting materials, supplies, tools, etc., safely and neatly away at the end of class session.
CREDENTIAL:
-Appropriate California teaching credential.
EDUCATION:
-Bachelor’s degree with a major in music education including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
-Supervised teaching.
SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director of Elementary Curriculum.
-Responsible for: Students.

REQUIRED: -Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential: Music -English Learner Authorization EDUCATION: -Bachelor's degree with a major in music education including all courses to meet credential requirements.

Such copies can be obtained using the link provided to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website through the “Secured Search” option. "SUITABLE FOR FRAMING" VERSIONS AND EXPIRED COPIES OF YOUR CREDENTIAL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
