Job Title: Associate Director of Marketing & Communications

Full-Time Exempt Employee

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

Job Summary:  The Marketing and Communications Department at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace is a busy, one-stop shop serving the needs of all departments across the school (including all academic departments, Office of Advancement, Office of Admissions, Office of the Head of School, etc.).

The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications will be an organized, detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and will serve as a key member of the highly productive and creative Marketing and Communications Department. The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications supports the Director of Marketing & Communications in all aspects of Marketing Department operations, including strategy and planning, writing, editing, and distribution of marketing collateral materials, photography/videography, graphic design, social media, and public relations. This candidate should possess strong proper grammar usage, proofreading, writing and design abilities, be detail and deadline oriented and a team player, along with being creative and proactive.

Essential Functions

  • In partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications, research, design, write, print, produce, and disseminate a wide range of marketing and communications materials

  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans and related policies for internal and external constituencies

  • Attend on-campus events (Masses, theatre performances, class projects, etc.) to take pictures and videos for internal and external communications

  • Write for, edit and lay out the quarterly OLP Magazine, digital Weekly Bulletin, monthly digital eNewsletter, website, social media posts, admissions collateral, fundraising collateral and more

  • Design print and digital materials including eblasts, banners, event invitations and collateral and more

  • Manage website administration including day-to-day updates

  • Manage all social media properties including taking photos, writing captions and posting to all properties regularly

  • Build and maintain relationships with all departments to enhance the reputation and create greater visibility and promotion of faculty, student and alumnae achievements

  • Provide marketing and communications support to all academic departments ensuring projects and publications are in line with the school’s visual identity and communications standards

  • Work closely with faculty and staff across all departments on projects and tasks related to communications, design, and marketing

  • Manage all email marketing efforts including writing content and designing headers in Constant Contact

  • Manage and post all photos to Vidigami, the school’s photo storage system

  • Support and oversee on-campus photo shoots and assist photographer as needed

  • Assist in onsite and offsite printing

  • Edit and proofread all marketing collateral

  • Write copy for press releases, advertisements, social media posts, etc.

  • Attend and assist with meetings and other special events (often after hours or on weekends)

  • Manage spirit wear orders and spirit store sales as needed

  • Maintain and update media list regularly and build contacts with local media

  • Organize, order and keep track of inventory for marketing materials and collateral on campus

  • Handle requests for marketing collateral

  • Collect press clippings and create reports

  • Supervise student aides

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

This position requires an understanding of marketing strategy and planning, a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, self-motivation, organization, and familiarity with the mission of OLP. In addition, the ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience supporting a busy marketing department, preferably in an educational or nonprofit environment

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver

  • Experience planning and executing social media marketing strategies

  • Excellent project management and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

  • Have excellent communication skills, including oral presentation and writing skills and the ability to produce clear documentation

  • Strong proofreading, grammar, and copywriting skills

  • Comfortable using a professional camera to regularly take photos and videos

  • Experience with digital email marketing programs such as Constant Contact or MailChimp

  • Have the ability to work collaboratively within the team and across all departments

  • Be highly organized, detail oriented and efficient. Self-starter who is able to work independently

  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines and changing priorities

  • Maintain a professional and considerate demeanor and have a strong work ethic

  • Be motivated to learn and display flexibility in a constantly changing environment

  • Proactive, outgoing, positive and professional personality

  • Understanding of the OLP Mission

 

Desired Education and Experience:  BA in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field. Masters degree preferred. 4-5 years’ experience working in a marketing or related field, preferably in an educational or nonprofit environment. Combination of education and experience that would provide the candidate with the skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
