Armenian Language Teacher
Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian school, one of several academic institutions under the auspices of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, is a college-oriented school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
The school strives for academic excellence. As such, special attention is rendered to the curriculum, the integrity of which is never compromised. The school offers advanced placement and honors courses, as well as courses certified by the Regents of the University of California. Students at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School are required to maintain a minimum academic standard (delineated below) in order to remain in the student body. Through numerous programs, including academic and guidance counseling, peer and teacher tutoring, individually tailored instruction, extracurricular activities, students are given ample opportunity to raise their academic standards to the minimum level mandated by the school.

General Summary:
This position is responsible for instruction of the Armenian Language (Eastern or Western) for Elementary, Middle and/or High School. Teachers will participate in an academically enriched Armenian language development program.
Teachers must have Credentials authorizing service in a multiple subject’s self-contained classroom. Candidate must have BCLAD in Armenian and be fluent in Armenian. Speaking, writing and reading in Armenian are required.
Essential Functions:
- Teaches content and skills in Armenian
- Plan, prepare, and implement lessons and materials for classes and activities
- Designs lessons appropriate to the goals and philosophy of the school curriculum
- Utilizes or learns to utilize technology (PowerPoint, Smartboard technology, wikis, etc.) in lessons and class management
- Turns in weekly lesson plans to the department chairs
- Utilizes a wide variety of instructional strategies including individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs and respective learning styles of each student
- Differentiates instructional materials and methods to better serve the unique needs of all students
- Evaluates each student’s progress in terms of their mastery of course concepts and standards
- Establishes and maintains standards of behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
- Identifies student needs, and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils achieve academic success
- Communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities and projects as necessary
- Administers or monitors standardized and/or required assessments
- Requisitions instructional materials and supplies, and maintains required inventory records
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. May teach under flexible scheduling plans
- Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees
