ELECTRICIAN

 

 

DEFINITION:

Under general supervision, to do skilled journeyman-level work in the repair, alteration, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; and to do related work as required.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Inspects, repairs, installs, services, and maintains electrical systems including conduit and duct systems, light and power circuits, motor appliances, generators, transformers, control equipment, switches, switchboards, heaters, fixtures, refrigeration, air conditioning equipment, and other types of electrical lighting and power equipment; maintains and repairs athletic field light tower, wires new and altered buildings; assembles, tests, and installs lighting fixtures; maintains and repairs heavy equipment used in construction trades work; may supervise trainees.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

            Knowledge of:

  • The tools, materials, and standard practices of the electrical trade;
  • Design, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus and equipment;
  • National, State, County and City electrical codes.

 

            Ability to:

  • Demonstrate skill in performing electrical installation and repair work;
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, plans and specifications;
  • Follow verbal and written directions.

 

            Experience:

  • Qualified Journeyman in building trades.

 

            Education:

  • High school education or equivalent in training and experience.

 

            License:

  • Possession of a valid California License to operate a motor vehicle.
