Requirements / Qualifications

THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO 2019/20 THIRD AND FOURTH YEAR STUDENTS AT CYPRESS, KENNEDY, AND OXFORD HIGH SCHOOLS ONLY. Other applicants will not be considered. DEFINITION: Under supervision, perform a variety of duties in support of the instructional effort and various departments of the District. Student aides are relatively inexperienced employees in training status while full-time students in a high school. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: This position will perform a variety of work under close and continuous supervision and under established procedures, performing routine and repetitive duties such as filing, merchandise check-in, answering the telephone, materials distribution, re-stocking supplies, assisting with the ordering of supplies, and operating electric paper cutters, copy machine, Risograph machine, spiral binding machines, paper folding machines (electric), poster maker, laminating machines, die cuts and other instructional materials machines; and perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Ability to: Develop good work habits and to learn simple methods and procedures; to follow oral and written directions; to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers; to type and operate various machines as required and as instructed, and to work cooperatively with others. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is desirable. Training and Experience: No specific training or experience is required. Permit: A Certificate of Age form will be required. Personal Qualities: Above-average maturity and intelligence for one’s age desirable, with an interest in developing skills and good work habits.
