          Position: Homeschool Teacher Who: Chrysalis Charter School, Palo Cedro, CA Job Description: Full Time, starting August 2019 Salary: $50,000+ depending on experience according to Chrysalis teacher salary schedule Chrysalis is seeking a personable, flexible, curriculum-savvy, and team-oriented homeschool teacher for our thriving homeschool program. Who We Are Chrysalis Charter School is unique in many ways - from our mission (“encouraging the light within each student to shine brighter”) through our science and nature emphasis to our organization as a teacher powered school. The teachers are in charge of the school and have the freedom to collaboratively design and implement whatever the group can imagine. This attracts creative, passionate teachers and creates a special atmosphere that can be felt as soon as you walk onto our campus. For example, the teachers have chosen to have smaller class sizes and more aides than most schools. This means modest salaries for all of us but also a child-centered focus that creates many non-tangible benefits including inclusion within a strong community of families and staff. Our K-8 homeschool program can enroll approximately 42 students and employs 2 teachers. We pride ourselves in offering support for families to deliver curriculum that is tailored to the needs of each family, each student. homeschoolers can choose to participate with other Chrysalis students in Chrysalis community activities including: elective classes (such as art, music, engineering, and others), rafting adventures, talent shows, and camping trips. In addition, we offer activities just for homeschoolers, such as field trips and science classes. What You Will Do As one of our homeschool teachers, you will work with up to 25 students to design their curriculum and craft their assignments in collaboration with their families. In addition, you will be responsible for enrichment activities, record keeping and other administrative duties. Specific duties include: -Work with homeschool families -Bi-monthly contact with up to 25 students -Mentor parents as they struggle with the ups and downs of homeschooling their children -Hold students and parents accountable to assignments and the Master Agreement -Emails, phone calls, website updates as needed -Coordinate with the special education team to serve IEP and 504 plan students -Facilitate curriculum -Provide individualized learning resources according to the learning ability, style and preference of each -On-going evaluation of effectiveness of chosen curriculum and making adjustments as indicated -Arrange field trips, classes, and other enrichment activities -Keep abreast of available resources, receive training when appropriate -Homeschool program administration -Work closely with other homeschool teacher to cover all responsibilities -Oversee coordination of all-school activities (electives, testing, special events, etc.) -Insure accurate record keeping, review records as needed -Keep informed of regulations and guidelines and implement compliance -Depending on abilities and a student load of less than 25, other duties within the school may include: -Teaching a history, math, music, or art class -Supporting small groups with reading or math interventions -Leading field studies -Supporting special education students Finally, you would become part of a teacher-powered school and would share in the many responsibilities and joys of making Chrysalis a special place. Requirements -A valid California teaching credential (multiple subject preferred, but single subject with teaching experience in other core subjects at the 4-8th grade level considered). -Pass a TB test, background check, and physical assessment exam. -Vision sufficient to read fine print; hearing and speech sufficient to enable communication by telephone and in person; stamina sufficient to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time; regularly lift, carry, and/or move instructional material and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; reach with arms and hands; stoop, kneel, or crouch to work with children. (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) Strongly preferred: -Three or more years of teaching experience. -Experience as a homeschool parent or teacher is preferred. -Strength in teaching math and English for 4th - 8th graders. -A strong understanding of outdoor or environmental science education is a plus in order to stay true to our identity as a science and nature school.
