District: Konocti Unified School District, Lower Lake, California Position: Superintendent for the 2019-20 school year Salary: Competitive and negotiable Closing date: March 22, 2019 The Konocti Unified School District (KUSD) is seeking a successful leader to replace the retiring Superintendent in the 2019-20 school year. KUSD has enjoyed outstanding leadership that has resulted in successful educational programs for all students living at the southern end of beautiful Clear Lake in Lake County, California. The Board of Trustees is now seeking a Superintendent who can further the accomplishments of the district. That leader will have a proven record of serving all elements of a diverse community through developing and supporting effective educational programs and services, delivered by strongly dedicated and hard-working professional and classified staffs. Community: KUSD serves the educational needs of the City of Clearlake and the townships of Clearlake Oaks, Lower Lake, Spring Valley and parts of Cobb Mountain. Lake County is a beautiful recreational and agricultural area centered around Clear Lake, the largest natural lake in California. The many small communities of Lake County provide a wide variety of recreation, sports, art, music and cultural opportunities. Like many rural agricultural regions, residents encounter a scarcity of retail and service opportunities. However, housing is very affordable as is the cost of living. KUSD and Lake County make a wonderful combination for working and living. District: Ten educational facilities, including four elementary schools, one grade 8-12 high school, and one school of choice and three alternate education programs, serve a student population of 3,500. The district employs a professional staff of 225 and a classified staff of 165. The mission of KUSD is “To provide students an engaging curriculum, high quality staff and learning experiences which prepare them to succeed in a diverse and ever-changing society. We will provide an environment free of emotional and physical violence while nurturing innovation and individuality. We build partnerships with parents and the community which support student learning.” The local control accountability plan (LCAP) now drives how KUSD plans its curriculum and spends its money. There are four priority areas that guide district programs to support student learning: engaging teaching and learning, college and career readiness, positive culture/healthy environment, and, increased communication. Qualifications: - Education Degrees, Credentials, etc. (most current first) - Valid administrative credential from a state (required) - Master’s Degree or higher (preferred) - Teaching Experience (5+ years preferred) - Site level or equivalent education administrative experience (required) Attributes: Attributes of candidates will be examined through structured interviews based on skills and dispositions. The critical skills and dispositions have been developed through inputs form community, staff and management groups. Critical Skills: (these are demonstrable management practices learned through training or work experiences) The following are the most critical skills for the Superintendent: • Knows and has managed pupil personnel policies, programs and practices that promote the highest levels of performance in all students. • Has management experience in developing and administering budgeting and financial practices. • Has management experience in selecting and implementing curricular and instructional practices. • Knows, appreciates and promotes the contributions of parents and community members in supporting district programs and practices.
