Our Lady of Grace School, in coordination with the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, is seeking a qualified and experienced educational leader to serve as principal. A qualified candidate is someone who is deeply committed to further the development of the faith, life, and academic excellence of the school. The position is effective July 1, 2019.

Our Lady of Grace School is a single classroom, kindergarten through eighth grade parish school located in El Cajon, California. Presently, Our Lady of Grace School has the following enrollment: K-8 = 259 students.

The mission of Our Lady of Grace School is to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders by integrating gospel values, discipline, and academic excellence into a safe, Christ-centered environment for children, grades K-8.

This mission is achieved by:

  1. Providing an enriched environment that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical development of its students.
  2. Emulating the love of Jesus Christ for each and every person treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  3. Helping our students grow to their full potential with a personal and active faith in God, a deep respect for others, a strong desire for intellectual growth, and a commitment to individual and community responsibility.

Qualifications

The principal must:

 

  1. Have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese of San Diego and the Catholic Church; be in full communion with the Church and regularly practicing his or her faith.
  2. Have a minimum of five years successful administrative experience in Catholic Schools.
  3. Have a master’s degree in Educational Administration and/or California Administrative Credential.
  4. Have the ability to verbalize and clarify the philosophy and mission of Catholic School Education based upon relevant church documents.
  5. Demonstrate leadership ability in past or present educational experiences.
  6. Have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills. 

Job Description

The principal has, as delegate of the pastor, immediate responsibility for implementing the philosophy and mission of the school in its regular operation. A school principal has the responsibility to: 

  1. Administer the total school program of spiritual, emotional and academic growth.
  2. Supervise and evaluate: 1) professional personnel; 2) auxiliary support staff; and 3) students.
  3. Provide instructional leadership.
  4. Monitor the financial operations of the school in conjunction with the School Finance Committee, Parish Finance Council, the business manager, and the pastor.
  5. Promote a development program for the school in coordination with the school’s Director of Development and Admissions, the School Advisory Council, and the pastor. 

Salary and Benefits

Negotiated based upon experience, education and qualifications.
