TITLE Youth Program Assistant

REPORT TO Principal

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Youth Program Lead and evaluated by the Principal, shall support sustaining a safe, highly effective and well-organized educational environment that welcomes a close working relationship with all school-wide constituencies (i.e., parents/guardians, students, faculty/staff, administrators, partners and governance team members). In alignment with Epiphany Prep’s mission, goals, and standards, the Principal’s general functions are to assist the faculty in accomplishing the academic goals and demonstrating exceptional leadership in supporting and monitoring the outcomes and day-to-day programmatic functions of the program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school and/or college level. Additional experience may substitute for education. Previous successful experience working with urban youth. Fluent Spanish speaking, writing, and listening and experience in youth work is desired.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Driver’s License is desired. Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate is optional. TB test clearance, criminal justice fingerprint clearance. Pre-employment physical and drug test may be required.

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (GENERAL)

  1. Ensures an advocacy, integrity and clear articulation of the founding principles of Epiphany Prep Charter’s educational program for students;
  2. Supports the overall goals to meet the student needs in academic, personal/social, and career/college growth goals;
  3. Establishes a positive working relationship with administrators, faculty, staff, pupils, and the community;
  4. Assists pupils in resolving conflicts in a positive and constructive manner through the use of conflict resolution strategies and mediation techniques and participates in the training of pupils and staff in conflict resolution strategies and mediation techniques;
  5. Acts as a liaison between site and home; may conduct home visits to enhance school/home relations, address truancy issues and/or connect families to community resources;
  6. Supports in planning, supervision and implementation of the daily program, monthly goals and objectives, calendar of activities, daily schedule, curriculum, snack and monthly newsletter in accordance with the goals and policies of the program.
  7. Supports to ensure constant and consistent supervision of all children, ensuring their guidance and safety.
  8. Ensure that program and staff consistently comply with all contract requirements policies and procedures.
  9. Supports to ensure established emergency procedures are followed at all times, by all staff, ensuring the safety of the children and staff.
  10. Supports to accurately document all incidents/accidents and ensure proper communication to all parties as appropriate.
  11. Supports to maintain complete and up-to-date records, including attendance, absentees, and emergency information on all children enrolled. Ensure accuracy and consistency of sign in/out sheets.
  12. Supports to coordinate daily program operations including daily set up, youth supervision, program planning and site maintenance including, but not limited to; cleaning bathrooms, wiping down tables, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors, taking out the trash, and securing facilities and equipment.
  13. Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all participants, school officials, parents, community members and co-workers.
  14. Supports College readiness in all students by collaborating and leading community forums and discussions with students on the importance of post high school careers and college options;
  15. Perform related duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RELATED DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Basic First Aid and age appropriate CPR techniques;
  2. Record-keeping techniques;
  3. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy;
  4. Perform job under stressful conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Lift and carry 50 pounds or more;
  2. Lift, carry, push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, walk, run, and crawl;
  3. Outdoor and indoor environment;
  4. Reach in all directions;
  5. Stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time;
  6. Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  7. Work at a desk, conference table, cafeteria, or in meetings of various configurations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various equipment;
  2. Seeing to read a variety of materials;
  3. Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations;
  4. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time;
  5. Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over, grasping, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and moving, lifting and/or carrying 0-50 pounds to waist height.

Possible shifts include: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:30pm - 6:30pm Wednesdays from 12 - 6:30pm Monday - Friday from 6:00am to 8:00am **************************************************** 1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school and/or college level. Additional experience may substitute for education. Fluent Spanish speaking, writing, and listening and experience in youth work is desired. 2. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Driver’s License is desired. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time; reaching overhead and horizontally to retrieve and store supplies; kneeling or crouching; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to observe students symptoms and injuries; lifting moderately heavy objects.
