About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Basic Function: Under the direction of the Director Special Education, assist with screening, assessing and providing therapy to students with a variety of speech and language disabilities; perform a variety of clerical duties in support of speech and language services (SEE ABOVE JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE FULL DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS).

Education & Experience: Level Education Supervision Required Service Provided 1 Range 137 Currently enrolled in college program leading towards an AA or BA degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Completion of 45 semester units with a minimum of 21 semester units in any combination of the following: Communication Disorders, Early Childhood Development, or Working with Special Needs.* Immediate supervision or direct on an approved plan Provide direct treatment; Follow treatment plans; Collect data; Assist with informal documentation 2 Range 139 Completion of BA degree in Speech and Language Pathology with less than 80 hours of clinical supervision. * Immediate supervision or direct on an approved plan Provide direct treatment; Follow treatment plans; Collect data; Assist with informal documentation 3 Range 141 AA degree or completion of 2 year college certification program for Speech/Language Pathologist Assistants and eligible for a State Speech /Language Pathologist Assistant License or possession of a BA degree in Speech and Language Pathology with 80 hrs of clinical supervision. Immediate, direct or indirect supervision Provide direct treatment; Conduct screenings; Follow treatment plans Collect data; Assist with informal documentation *It is expected that employees hired at these levels would advance to level 2 or 3 within one year.
