About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Ideal Candidate: Seeking individuals with sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities to perform a variety of technical duties in support of the benefits department. These opportunities are for individuals interested in working on-call and as needed to serve the district needs during employee absences or position vacancies. Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years payroll, employee benefits or related experience. Knowledge of: General methods, practices, terminology and procedures used in benefits administration, employee benefit packages and insurance programs, employee benefits enrollment practices and procedures, data control procedures and data entry operations, interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, record-keeping and filing techniques, oral and written communications skills, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, modern office practices, procedures and equipment, operation of a computer and assigned software, mathematic computations. Ability to: Perform a variety of technical duties in support of employee benefits programs including enrollment, orientation, Workers’ Compensation and record-keeping functions, serve as a technical resource and liaison concerning employee benefits, conduct open enrollment activities for District employees, enroll, add and delete employees to and from various benefit plans, review, process and verify a variety of enrollment forms and applications, conduct benefit orientations for new employees (see attached job description for full details). The selection process will consist of a competitive qualifying application screening and interview. This recruitment is for substitute / on call / at will employment in the classification family of Benefits Technician.
